Time Flies

Marsha: Hey, don't we have a blog we should be working on?
Tracy: I forgot - do we have a blog?
Marsha: I'm pretty sure we do.
Tracy: Crap! We suck!
Marsha: Indeed!

What can we say? Time flies.

Anywhooooo....we're working on getting back with the program here. Oh we haven't been ignoring Halloween but we've been dreadful about posting any new stuff. While we've been away I've been spending many hours in my son's car while he tries to bang out the hours needed to graduate from learner's permit to restricted. Listen carefully, if you are on the road anywhere in Kansas run for cover. I do not, repeat do not have a safety break on my side of the car.

Well, he is his mother's son. He likes to exceed the speed limit and has the stereo at moc 10. Lucky for me we like the same music. He recently pulled out the Apocalyptica cd and had it playing on one of our drives. If you're not familiar, these guys are a Finnish metal cello band. You probably know "I Don't Care" that features Adam Gontier from Three Days Grace but skip ahead a few tracks to number 11. The track is titled "Peace" and has a wonderfully eerie tone that could be worked into any haunt.

The Mad Lab

MIA the past few days but I have a good reason for it. You see I have a personality disorder. Some would argue that's not my only problem but I digress.

Here you know me as one half of the Ghoulie Girls but some would better recognize me by my alter ego Jekyll and Hyde. Wait, that makes what? Three personalities in all right? Ah well, who's counting.

Anywho, I haunt various Halloween sites on the web under the J&H moniker. One place in particular is the haunting social network HauntSpace. I've been a member there since 2006 and have found it to be a great place to gather all sorts of inspiration and information regarding Halloween.

In August 2007 I thought it would be fun to host a prop building contest and The Mad Lab was born. The concept is simple. Every month a standard everyday object (aka SEI) is chosen and contestants build a prop using that item. At the end of each contest a winner is selected via popular vote and a prize is awarded. Anyone can enter to win and anyone can vote. (Hey, what can I say, I'm an equal opportunity haunter.)

Today The Mad Lab launched it's own site so now you can participate through either venue.

So, grab your glue gun, monster mud and duck tape and head over the Lab. We'll be waiting for you.....

After spending some time on YouTube.com (yes - I am addicted, thanks for asking) I came across several vintagesque (is that a word?) circa 1990s vids of Halloween commercials. Some of these I remember, some I've never seen but they all take me back to another time (in a Galaxy far, far away).

I've had a bit too much coffee this morning so I'm going to get right to it. Funny, I drink decaf. Anyway - on with the show....
